With beaches, mountains, rivers, and small villages, there's more than enough variety to keep a holiday with children diverse and fun. Beyond the many beaches, there are also countless activities spread across the island.
Tip Don't fill every day to the brim. A morning at the beach and a small activity in the afternoon often works better than a packed schedule. Corsica is at its best when taken at a relaxed pace.
Horse and donkey rides
All over the island you'll find riding centres where you can take a ride with the children. Options include the beach, through forests, or along quiet mountain trails.
For younger children, donkey rides are a big hit. In the village of Sant'Antonino in the Balagne region, for example, you can walk with a donkey to the top of the village. A stunning view over the surrounding area awaits at the summit.
Insider tip Book a ride in the early morning or late afternoon. It's cooler for the animals and for the children alike.
Train rides through the mountain landscape
A ride on the Corsican train is a wonderful experience for the whole family. The stretch between Calvi and L'Île-Rousse is particularly popular. This train runs along the coast, with views of beaches and mountains. It's often nicknamed the "beach tram."
The journey between the two towns takes about 40 minutes, with several small stops at beaches along the way.
From L'Île-Rousse you can also continue towards Corte and Ajaccio. This route is more spectacular and especially enjoyable for older children. The train passes through tunnels, across bridges, and through impressive mountain scenery.
Insider tip Sit on the right-hand side of the train on the route towards Ajaccio. That's usually where you get the best views.
Turtle parks
A Cupulatta (near Ajaccio)
Roughly twenty kilometres northwest of Ajaccio lies one of Europe's best-known turtle parks. Home to more than 3,000 turtles of some 170 species.
The park focuses on protection, research, and breeding. For young children, this is often one of the highlights of the holiday.
Insider tip Go early in the day. It's quieter and the animals are more active than in the heat of the afternoon.
Turtle village in Moltifao
In the north of the island, near the village of Moltifao, lies a second turtle park. This centre focuses on protecting the rare Hermann's tortoise.
You walk past various enclosures, including the breeding area, the nursery, and the zones where young turtles grow before being released back into the wild.
Insider tip Combine a visit with a drive through the Asco valley. It's one of the most beautiful mountain roads in the north.
Water sports
Along the coast there are plenty of water sport options. Think of:

- Snorkelling
- Stand-up paddleboarding
- Windsurfing

- Jet skiing
At the larger beaches you can often hire equipment or book lessons. For older children, activities like kayaking along rocky coasts or a first diving experience are unforgettable.

Treetop adventure parks
Scattered across the island you'll find climbing and adventure parks set among the trees. These feature courses with rope bridges, zip lines, and swings through the forest.
Most parks have different levels, from easy routes for young children to challenging courses for teenagers and adults.
Insider tip Bring closed-toe shoes. Many parks won't let you participate in flip-flops or sandals.
Canyoning for the whole family
Corsica is one of the best places in Europe to try canyoning. You follow a mountain stream, jump into natural pools, slide down rocks, and abseil alongside waterfalls.
There are routes for all levels, including families with younger children. The tougher routes, on the other hand, are exciting enough to thrill teenagers.
